LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 2: Maraca Man

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 2 Mr. Maracas MexicanMaraca Man is exclusive to set 8684, The Collectible Minifigure Series 2.

Minifigure Parts and Accessories

Maraca Man is composed of five main parts: hat, head, torso, poncho, and legs.

The hat is a sombrero in green with detailed print around the brim. This is a new part for the LEGO universe, and in my opinion, very cool.

The head, as with all of the Collectible Minifigures, features a new print and a nice mustachio to boot.

The torso assembly appears to have a dark tan arms and yellow hands. There is no print on the torso (front or back) and the color is gray.

The poncho is a new part, likely made from the same material as the cape. It also features a nice print with a very authentic feel. I can easily see how this poncho will be used to create custom figs of Clint Eastwood in the film "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". The poncho is achieved through two pieces in a diamond pattern/shape.

The hips and legs are both brown and feature no print.

The accessories for this figure are a pair of red maracas. Each maracas have print and fit well in the figure's hands. The handles also open up potential building opportunities with the new part. Each package contains three maracas.

Detailed pictures of all accessories and parts can be found here.

Army Building Potential

The army building potential for the figure is low. Unique? Yes. Kitschy? Yes. Desirable in high quantites? Not so much.

Feeling It Out

The sombrero is quite distinct. Given the size it should be easily identified through the packaging.

Bar Codes

The following are the secondary bar codes that can be found on the back of each bag which indicates the figure inside. The EU bar codes are shown on the left and the US bar codes are shown on the right. These bar codes come courtesy of Grogall. You can find a single pdf containing all bar codes here.

Official LEGO.com Bio

“Hear the music of the maracas!”

Can you hear that? It may be hard to hear at first, but keep listening and soon you’ll hear the sound of a pair of bright red maracas rattling out a fun and festive tune. That’s how everybody knows that the Maraca Man is on his way!

When the Maraca Man dances through the street shaking his maracas, everyone around him finds themselves cheering up. Where he comes from is a mystery and where he’ll go next is too, but whenever he’s near, people smile, clap, and tap their feet to the beat!

The Big Draw

I'm guessing this will be one of the rare figures of Series 2, given the number of new and custom parts. The sombrero and poncho are likely the hot items here.
