LEGO Star Wars Minifigures: Imperial Pilot and R2-Q2

This version of the Imperial Pilot and R2-Q2 are exclusive to set 7915, Imperial V-Wing Starfighter.

Minifigure Parts and Accessories

Let's first cover the Imperial Pilot minifigure. This fig is made up of four parts: helmet, head, torso and leg assembly.

In many ways this figure is a black version of the Clone Pilot that came with set 8096, Emperor Palpitine's Shuttle.

The mold for the helmet is the same as minifigs sw266, sw281 and sw265 but this variant is black with white print.

The head is black with white print. Almost the exact negative of the head of sw281.

The torso, arms, and hands are all black with white flight suit print on the torso. It is unclear as to if there is print on the back of the torso.

The legs and hips are black with no visible print.

The closest comparison would be to the TIE pilot, which is pictured here. The eyes are a bit off given that they are entirely white and not highlights on black lenses. The life support unit on the chest is very simple only showing a white outline and no additional color.

The Imperial Pilot is assisted by the silver astromech droid R2-Q2. Little is known about R2-Q2. Honestly, this is primarily an excuse to make a silver R2 unit.

Army Building Potential

The ABP for the Imperial Pilot is moderate while R2-Q2's is low. A squadron of these pilots might be nice, but not the droids.

Big Draw

The draw of the pilot is the chance to have this figure in black. The head could be desirable for custom designs. The attraction of R2-Q2 is to have an astromech in silver.
