Collectible Minifigures Series 1: The Spaceman

Minifigure Parts
The Spaceman is composed of four parts, the helmet with trans-clear visor, the torso with classic space logo, legs, and head. The helmet will be the first time that part 87781 will be available in white. You can get dark bley helmets with trans-red visors from the 2010 Space Police III characters.

Accessories
The accessory is a new ray gun design with a bolt of blue discharging out of it. I don't believe the ray gun design has been available previously. Part 3959 is typically used as a single handed laser wepon in most LEGO Space sets. The blue bar is simply a shorter, 3L version of part 30374 in light trans-blue. As always, the figure will come with the new minifigure stand.

Army Building Potential
The "army building potential" or "ABP" for this figure is moderate. This might be a less expensive way to beef up your space armada, given that the similar Space Police III commandos are averaging $4 on BrickLink.

Feeling It Out
This figure might be difficult to identify through the packaging with no obvious features or accessories that can be ID'd via touch. Your best best is to try for the helmet. If you look for the bar there's a chance you could pull The Magician out of your hat.

Bar Codes
The following are the secondary bar codes that can be found on the back of each bag which indicates the figure inside. The bar code on the left is valid for the EU while the bar code on the right is valid for the US. These bar codes come courtesy of Brickset.com where a single pdf containing all bar codes can be found.

The Big Draw
The new gun design is the big draw here. The helmet design in white might also be of interest to some builders and collectors.

FBTB.net Poll Results
According to the poll currently on the FBTB.net forums, The Spaceman is second only to The Zombie. As always, those who frequent AFOL forums may not be representative of the broader market.

Official LEGO.com Bio
“Greetings, strange creatures. I come in peace!”

This brave and intrepid space traveler doesn’t quite realize that he’s not out exploring the cosmos. The Spaceman walks in long, slow bounds across the landscape, somehow ignoring the fact that gravity is perfectly normal for everything else around him. He’s friendly and fearless, always happy to investigate a strange new place or salute a stranger with a universal-greeting hand gesture, but his unshakeable belief that he’s dealing with alien creatures and worlds can lead to a lot of confusion for everyone involved.

The Spaceman carries a sci-fi gizmo for just about any situation, including hi-tech binoculars, a grappling hook, a jetpack and even a tiny, remote-controlled space rover. Just be careful if you startle him into thinking that you’re an attacking hostile alien – his futuristic Electro-Zapp blaster fires a zig-zagging electric beam that can zap the hair right off a minifigure!
