New Pictures of Series 5 Collectible Minifigures

Series 4 is so-o-o five minutes ago...Series 5 is where it's at! Readers Jacob and Troy both sent me word that new images of the Series 5 Collectible Minifigures (8805) are currently on the toy site Mikado Spieleland. The image I could grab (above) was quite small, but there's a viewer on the site that gives you a close up look. There's also an image of the customary four by four grid of actual figs.

I'll be returning to the site shortly, as Brickset has seen new Hero Factory and I hear that new Ninjago spinners are on the site too. It's possible other treasures can be found.

Check it all out at Mikado Spieleland now.

UPDATE:  I was able to coax a much better picture from their site. I'm also including the grid pic of the actual figs above. Click on both for larger images.

LEGO Collectible Minifigure Guides - Series 4, 5, and 6

Collectible Minifigure Collection Details
  • The figures will be packaged in "blind" bags and capsules in Japan.
  • There are 16 characters in each series.
  • The recommended price was $1.99 USD per bag, until Series 3 when it changed to $2.99 USD.
  • There are three levels of rarity based on the mix of figures in each case.
  • Secondary bar codes on the back of each bag indicate which figure is inside for the first two series. Series 3 does not have the bar codes, but instead has a different coding system based on 'bumps' at the bottom of the packs.
  • There had been no printing on the back of these figures until Series 3, when the Gorilla Suit Guy and Mummy debuted with back torso print. Most figures do not include printing on the back as a cost-cutting measure; however, quite a few of the Series 4 minifigs will have back print.
  • LEGO executives have stated that at least two sets will be released each year as long as they remain popular...or they run out of ideas, whichever comes first.
  • Steve Witt of The LEGO Group announced at BrickFair 2010 that figures have now been designed up through Series 5. To date, only the figures through Series 5 have been shown.
  • The LEGO Group has stated that once a series sells out, it will no longer make those figures. Series 1 & 2 are sold out to date.

LEGO Series 5 Collectible Figs and More

Only hours after rumors of the Series 5 Collectible Minifigures surfaced, we now have a picture from the Nurnburg International Toy Fair. So it would seem that 'woman with briefcase' is 'woman with boombox' and the red and blue mystery figs are a lumberjack and a male snowboarder, respectively.

A big thanks to Toys N Bricks for posting the link to the website Spieletest. Here's further proof for you future bloggers to always dig when sites are linked. There are several videos in the link to Spieletest above that showcase set shots for new Ninjago, Star Wars, and Alien Conquest. There are also pics below the videos which show the new Kingdoms sets.

I've linked two of the videos below. The first you must watch as it has pics of Series 4 and 5 plus all the Alien Conquest figures. The second video is a showcase of the new Ninjago sets and figures. Enjoy!

More LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 5 Rumors

A Modular Life reports that there's been discussion on Eurobricks about more rumored minifigures for Series 5 (how's that for a rumor chain?) As the pictures have yet to surface, take these descriptions with a grain of salt. In the past people have described past Collectible Minifigure designs only to find their interpretation was a little...off.

I've seen pictures of at least nine designs, which you can read about here. The newly rumored designs are as follows (the comments in parenthesis are mine):
      • Eskimo (I expect the Star Wars Hoth hoods and another fishing pole, or snowshoes)
      • A 'Historical' Judge (with a powdered wig perhaps?)
      • Mobster with Hat, Gun, and Case (the gun is likely the Pharaoh's Quest tommy gun)
      • A Female Zookeeper with Monkey (new printed monkey perhaps)

The rest of the figures are a bit more vague:
      • A Female with Suitcase (perhaps LEGO heard the cries of sexism and this is a lawyer?)
      • Unidentified Blue Figure
      • Unidentified Red Figure

Exciting potential designs no matter how you look at it!

Rumor: Nine Series 5 Collectible Minifigs Revealed

A confidential picture of nine Series 5 Collectible Minifigures (8805) has surfaced on the Toys N Bricks forums. Although I won't repost the picture here, since the photo has the 'confidential' watermark, I will tell you that the figures appear to be:
      • A boxer with gloves and sparring helmet
      • A clown with a cream pie and blue bowler
      • A guy in a dino suit
      • Buckingham palace guard
      • Cleopatra with snake
      • Gladiator with gladius and helmet
      • Dwarf with battle axe and shield
      • A cavewoman with a bone in her hair
      • A 'Sherlock Holmes' style detective with magnifying glass
Consider these rumors for now. Although we've heard that Series 5 figs are already designed, final designs can always change. We will have to wait and see if any of these figs debut at the London Toy Fair next week!

Do We Have our First Look at Series 5 Collectible Figs?

FBTB.net has shared their invite to a US Toy Fair meet and greet come February. The invite features several minifigures from upcoming 2011 sets. Chances are you can place all but two of those minifigures.

So who are the female spacer in blue and the alien with the broad head? I'm guessing these are two Series 5 Collectible Minfigures based on a couple of facts. First, LEGO announced earlier this year that had up through Series 5 already designed. Second, I would find it hard to believe that 2011 would have room for a third space set theme, with the LEGO City Space sets and Star Wars still in play. I guess only time will tell...
