Series 4 World Tour: UK and Canada

Toys N Bricks and Brickset are reporting that Canadian Wal-Mart stores and UK Tescos are starting to get Series 4 Collectible Minifigures. This feels like the fastest rollout to date for several countries (thank you TLG!) The Canadian figures are listed for $3.28 CAN, while those in the UK are going for 1.97 GBP.

The two locations have been added to the Series 4 Rollout Map. Make certain to 'drop a pin' when you find these in your neck of the woods, or drop me a line and I can do it.

Keep checking back for more Series 4 news, as it happens.

New Ninjago Spinner Sets at ToysRUs

Toys N Bricks is reporting that the newer Ninjago spinners are showing up at ToysRUs stores in the US.

Cole DX and Zane DX have been seen so far, but the Nuckal and Nya spinners shouldn't be far behind. Do be aware that the spinner minifigures appear to manufactured differently from those that come with the main sets (take that for what you will). Skeleton spinners, like Nuckal, also have a different arm configuration so the figure can hold weapons out to the side. If these details aren't a concern, this is a less expensive way to add these figures to your collection.

There are several TRU LEGO deals this week with free sets and price off deals. ToysRUs has also lowered their threshold for free shipping from $100 down to $75. You can see all the details at Toys N Bricks, or you can go straight to ToysRUs.com.

Keep Eyes Peeled for Series 4 in March 2011

Hi there, me here. Hopefully I didn't miss any news about the Collectible Minifigure Series 4 launching somewhere while I was out, but the April LEGO Store calendar further reinforces my belief that they will debut somewhere this month.

Toys N Bricks shares the April calendar which lists April 15th as the date Series 4 will be in the brand stores. Historically, the brand stores have been late to the game with other retailers like ToysRUs beating them to the punch (at least in the US any way). Who's also to say that the US will get them first again?

The Series 3 Rollout Map via Google turned out to be helpful, perhaps it's time to put up the Series 4 Map, eh?

You can see the full calendar at Toys N Bricks. Did I see that correctly? Series 1 minifigure elements will be available via the 'Build A Mini' kiosk in stores?! Nice...

New Star Wars Accessories Discovered

Toys N Bricks has found new LEGO Star Wars key chains and magnets in the March 2011 LEGO Store calendar.

It would seem that we can now have Cad Bane and Boba Fett guard our car keys, while snowbound Anakin, Talz, and a Clone Pilot can keep the kids artwork secured to the fridge. With the new policy the magnet set minifigs will be glued, but the heads, helmets, and accessories will come off.

You can also employ the methods of Akunthita to liberate said figures. The tutorials can be found in our collection, but do read our disclaimer first.

A copy of the March calendar can be found on Toys N Bricks. A quick perusal shows that March is Star Wars month in celebration of the LEGO Star Wars III video game. There are some interesting deals to be had, as well. It looks like we will also have a new catalog near the end of the month. I guessing the LEGO CITY Space sets will be included.

Quick Hits: Sales and Deals (US/CAN)

Just passing along some deal information courtesy of Toys N Bricks...

Toys R Us Canada is having a BOGO 50% off sale on all LEGO City, Atlantis, and Kingdoms sets. You always maximize you savings when purchasing sets of equal value. We are an affiliate with TRU Canada, meaning that if you click through via the banner at the top of our page and make a purchase, we get a small commission. Those commissions are then reinvested back into the site for content.

Also in Canada, Wal-Mart is offering 23% all Ninjago spinners. This would be a great time to round out your collection of Ninjas or Skeleton armies (I've also been told there's a game associated with these fellers...Who knew?!). If you would like to learn more you can take a peek at our Ninjago minifigure guides and get the skinny before you buy.

Finally, starting today through Monday, you can save up to 30% on three select sets at Toys R Us in the US:
  • LEGO CITY Garage
  • LEGO Power Miners Titanium Rig
  • LEGO Space Police Hyperspeed Persuit
If you decide to purchase in store, FBTB.net reports seeing the exclusive LEGO Star Wars set Battle for Geonosis (7869) in certain TRUs. This set has only been available at Shop at Home to date, so another great way to pick one up.

Lot's more sales and deals news can be found at Toys N Bricks.

LEGO Ninjago On Sale at Amazon.com (US)

Apples wrote to let me know that LEGO Ninjago set, Garmadon's Dark Fortress, is on sale at Amazon.com for $55 USD (~21% off the list price). This could be a 'flash sale', where the price goes up at some point in the near future, so don't delay. You can see all the figures that come with this set in our LEGO Ninjago Minifigure guides.

Toys N Bricks is also reporting other sales on a few select Toy Story and Star Wars sets, including the Western Train Chase, Palpatine's Shuttle, Slave I, and the ARC-170. You can see more at Toys N Bricks.

Quick Hits: New Sets, Plan B, and More Arealight

A few bits of news coming across the wire today...

Toys N Bricks has more set pics for LEGO Cars (not the Duplo sets), CITY Harbor, Harry Potter, and the Sith Nightspeeder (above). Aside from more pics of the new LEGO Star Wars figs, there's not much else to report. Does anyone else think that the Hogwarts set is a little wierd?

UPDATE: A Modular Life has more LEGO Cars, Star Wars, Kingdoms, and Technic set pics collected from Kris Kelvin (he's the Eurobricks member who has been providing the shots). The Star Wars sets shown include Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator, the Podracers, and Republic Frigate. The Kingdoms set is theMill Village Raid and has some great views of the printed horses, goats, chickens, and pigs!

Brickset correspondent Yellowcastle shares a 'Series B' dot code sheet for Series 3 Collectible Minifigures. We had heard rumors that the dot codes may have been changed with later shipments. Now you have the ability to find the figs you are looking for. The packages this pertains to should have a 'B' on in the batch code along the bottom where the dots can be found. You can find the form in all its glory on Yellowcastle's Flickr stream.

Finally, we have more details on the Arealight printed helmets. Bluce has been so kind to put up more shots of each helmet in 360 views (Hey! That's my job...just kidding). This is a fantastic way to see as much of these great products before you buy. I can tell you from personal experience that the helmet molds are fantastic. Bluce also states that he's still working on the Mando helmets which he will try to make available very soon. I highly recommend checking out the 360 pics of the printed products on the Arealight Flickr stream.

That's all for now. More as it becomes available...

LEGO Series 5 Collectible Figs and More

Only hours after rumors of the Series 5 Collectible Minifigures surfaced, we now have a picture from the Nurnburg International Toy Fair. So it would seem that 'woman with briefcase' is 'woman with boombox' and the red and blue mystery figs are a lumberjack and a male snowboarder, respectively.

A big thanks to Toys N Bricks for posting the link to the website Spieletest. Here's further proof for you future bloggers to always dig when sites are linked. There are several videos in the link to Spieletest above that showcase set shots for new Ninjago, Star Wars, and Alien Conquest. There are also pics below the videos which show the new Kingdoms sets.

I've linked two of the videos below. The first you must watch as it has pics of Series 4 and 5 plus all the Alien Conquest figures. The second video is a showcase of the new Ninjago sets and figures. Enjoy!

Quick Hits: Lower Prices, New Minfig Galleries, and Safer Mods

A quick round up of events before calling it another day...

Toys N Bricks is reporting that the prices of LEGO key chains and magnet sets are being lowered in Canada. Key chains are dropping $0.50 to $5.49 CAN, and magnet sets are shedding $4.50 to $15.49. This appears to put these more in line with current US MSRP. You can see the full story at Toys N Bricks.

Huw has placed yet another minfig gallery up at Brickset. Several galleries have already been uploaded, the most recent being the Spider Man figs. When you get a chance, check the all out. A great alternative to BrickLink or Brickpedia when looking for minifig reference photos.

Finally Akunthita has put up a nice tutorial on how to more safely mod a Castle/Kingdoms crown at The Brick Blogger. There are several tips that are handy for any type of similar modification of LEGO or custom parts. Do take a look when you get a chance. Also, take the time to read our customization tutorial disclaimer before performing any alterations.

That's all for now. Good night to all in Minifig Nation...

Series 3 Collectible Minifigures in Canada

Toys N Bricks is reporting that Series 3 Collectible Minifigures are now available in Canadian Chapters stores and online for $2.95 CAN. Online orders above $25 CAN will qualify for free shipping.

MasterMindToys.com also has Series 3 at $2.99 CAN, plus they are running a buy 3 get one 1 promotion on Series 2 Minifigs.

You can see the full story at Toys N Bricks.

Finally, a quick look at our Series 3 Rollout Map would suggest that Kaboodles and Wal-Mart in Victoria, BC and another Wal-Mart in Vancouver have had sightings.

Sales and Deals Countdown

A few details on some deals that are coming to an end very soon...

First up we have the exclusive Sensei Wu key chain from LEGO.com on orders over $75 USD/CAN or 50 GBP. To date this is the only way to get this Spinjitzu master as a key chain. Offer ends at the end of the month. I never confirmed if the key chain was automatically added to the order, or if you needed a code (it doesn't indicate that you do at LEGO.com). Please make certain it's added before you checkout. (US| Canada| UK)

Speaking of deals ending on January 31st, the 10% voucher/coupon code for FireStar Toys is set to expire. FireStar Toys has a wide variety of LEGO minifigures and custom accessories, so much in fact that you can mix and match products from different custom houses without all those extra shipping charges. Did you like the BrickTW items featured in today's review? Firestar doesn't yet carry those items, but do have many of the 2010 product line available. Just use voucher/coupon code 'KV882256' at checkout to get your discount at FireStar Toys today.

The last sale comes to us from Toys N Bricks. It seems those $3 LEGO sets have been further marked down to $1! I personally checked out a local K-Mart, but no luck. Hey, with $1 LEGO sets, it's worth taking a look.

That's all for now. Happy bargain hunting!

Rumor: Nine Series 5 Collectible Minifigs Revealed

A confidential picture of nine Series 5 Collectible Minifigures (8805) has surfaced on the Toys N Bricks forums. Although I won't repost the picture here, since the photo has the 'confidential' watermark, I will tell you that the figures appear to be:
  • A boxer with gloves and sparring helmet
  • A clown with a cream pie and blue bowler
  • A guy in a dino suit
  • Buckingham palace guard
  • Cleopatra with snake
  • Gladiator with gladius and helmet
  • Dwarf with battle axe and shield
  • A cavewoman with a bone in her hair
  • A 'Sherlock Holmes' style detective with magnifying glass
Consider these rumors for now. Although we've heard that Series 5 figs are already designed, final designs can always change. We will have to wait and see if any of these figs debut at the London Toy Fair next week!

More UK Retail Locations for Series 3 Collectible Figs

Toys N Bricks is reporting that LEGO Series 3 Collectible Minifigures can now be found at WH Smith and The Entertainer Toy Store in the UK.

You can find a dot code 'cheat sheet' here, but don't forget to validate the contents by feeling for important elements. Reports suggest that the dot codes are not always reliable.

You can see the full story at Toys N Bricks.

ABP Alert - K-Mart and Target Clearance Sales

Toys N Bricks is reporting on some great deals at K-Mart and Target stores. K-Mart seems to be the most impressive, if true. It seems that several select sets are marked at $3.00 USD, which amount to significant savings.

Target's select deals amount to 50% off, which is nothing to sneeze at. You can also hit the Valentines Day aisle and see if the Series 3 Collectible Minifigures are on sale.

It sounds like the key at both stores is to find a 'price checker' scanner that are placed throughout the store. Check the item there, because it may not reflect these prices on the shelf.

You can check out the full list of deals on Toys N Bricks.

UPDATE: A quick trip to K-Mart and $3 later, I can confirm that the K-Mart deals were spot on. My store only had the Power Miners set, but now I finally have some silver PM armor and a rock monster!

Target didn't fare as well. I ran the Prince of Persia 'Battle of Almut' at the aisle scanner and...full listed price. Perhaps others had more luck than I but it looks like this one might be 'busted'. As we say in statistics, this is only an 'N' of one, so check your store just in case.

I did see a nice space for the Series 3 Collectible Minifigures in the Valentines aisle, so they are indeed coming. No other slots were seen for the three new polybags that Brickset unearthed, however.

New LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Pack Shots

Toys N Bricks points us to De Grote Speelgoed Winkle where they have temporary pack shots of the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean line. I say temporary for two reasons 1) these are not likely the final pack designs and elements can change before these sets hit the shelves, and 2) Disney and TLG are likely to ask this site to take these images down. So if you would like to get an early idea of what might be included, head on over now.

The images are quite small but I do see some Islander minifigs standing in for the cannibals and the new bone elements from Ninjago.

Speaking of Ninjago, there are pics of sets up for that series that have not come out yet either. It looks like there may be some skellies that haven't debuted yet, and you will be able to purchase spinners for characters like the DX ninjas, Nya, Sensei Wu, and Garmadon. I'm certain further investigation of the site may yield similar 'gems'.

Quick Hits: Two for the Road

A couple of really quick pieces of news...

Series 3 Collectible Minifigures are now appearing in Canadian Wal-Mart stores. The prices are listed at $2.86 CAN. Thanks to the folks at Toys N Bricks for the news.

Huw continues to diligently upload his minifigure collection onto Brickset. The most recent collection to go up is LEGO Batman. I really wish LEGO would realize that the reason the original sets didn't do well was that their timing with the video game was flawed. Those of us who returned to LEGO after the sets ended are looking for a minifig superhero fix!

That's all for now (see I said it would be quick). More as it happens...

ABP Alert - Prince of Persia Desert Attack 50% Off

Hot on the heels of yesterday's discount on the LEGO Toy Story Army Men, Amazon now has the Prince of Persia Desert Attack set listed for $5.49 USD, a 50% savings!

Ostrich Race and the Space Police Smash 'N Grab sets are also listed at 50% off, but the minifig potential is lower. Nevertheless, a fantastic deal.

You will want to hurry. Amazon raised the prices on the Army Men set the same day it went on sale, so these offers may not last for long.

Thanks to Toys N Bricks for the news.

Series 1, 2, and 3 Collectible Minifigure News

A couple of quick hits on all three Collectible Minifigure Series...

According to Toys N Bricks, US Wal-Marts are now having Series 3 Collectible Minifigures showing up on shelves. Wal-Mart is pricing these at $2.97 USD, surprising given their 'commitment' to everyday low prices. No news on locations, hopefully we'll have some folks place them on our interactive Google map.

Daniel has sent us word that his local Meijer store has had Series 1 and Series 2 Collectible Minifigures appear in their stocking stuffer aisle recently. This may have been a limited event, so check with your local Meijer when you can.

Star Wars Summer 2011 Set Rumors

Toys N Bricks is reporting several set names and prices for the LEGO Star Wars line in Summer 2011. The line-up includes the following:

  • LEGO 7956 Ewok Attack ($24.99 USD / $34.99 CAD)
  • LEGO 7957 Dathomir Speeder ($24.99 USD / $34.99 CAD)
  • LEGO 7959 Geonosian Starfighter ($29.99 USD / $39.99 CAD)
  • LEGO 7961 Sith Infiltrator ($49.99 USD / $69.99 CAD)
  • LEGO 7962 Podracer ($79.99 USD / $109.99 CAD)
  • LEGO 7964 Republic Frigate ($119.99 USD / $159.99 CAD)
  • LEGO 7965 Millennium Falcon ($139.99 USD / $174.99 CAD

So what might this mean for minifigures? I'm betting we'll see either new Ewok molds with print or the old molds updated with this printing technique LEGO seems very fond of at the moment. Same for the Millennium Falcon and Chewie.

A quick trip to Wookieepedia tells me that the Dathomir Speeder might suggest that the Quinlan Vos minifig who diappeared from the T6 Jedi Shuttle, make finally debut.

The Geonosian Starfighter suggests an updated...what else...Geonosian minifig.

The Sith Infiltrator has me most excited because it suggests a couple of things. If this is Darth Maul's Infiltrator then we may get an updated fig of the 'ol red and black horn-head. Given TLG's experimentation with different alien heads, this might be interesting. Why else might this be a possibility? Savage Oppress. Lucas is making a big to-do over introducing this Clone Wars era character and brother to Darth Maul. Expect him to be this year's Cad Bane or Mandalorian Death Watch.

The rest could be anyone's guess (man that podracer set seems expensive! Ultimate Collector's Series?). It would be cool to see a Greedo minifig with the Falcon (even though he buys the farm in the cantina).

If you would like to see and speculate more, head on over to Toys N Bricks.

Series 3 Sightings at TRU and Meijer (US)

Toys N Bricks is reporting that Series 3 Collectible Minifigures are now making their way into Toys R Us and Meijer stores in the US. It would appear that the days of $1.99 collectible figs are over at TRU with the current packs being listed for $2.99. You may want to try and see if your TRU allows for the BOGO 50% off to be applied to these figs for a discount.

Don't forget to bring your handy Series 3 decoder sheets to the stores with you! The patterns on the sheet correspond with bumps along the bottom of the package.

I'm still surprised that Europe hasn't seen these yet. If anyone sees these in their local stores, please let us know. One of these days, I'll find a way for people to virtually 'stick a pin' on a map so we can track these roll outs better.
