Quick Hits: Two for the Road

A couple of really quick pieces of news...

Series 3 Collectible Minifigures are now appearing in Canadian Wal-Mart stores. The prices are listed at $2.86 CAN. Thanks to the folks at Toys N Bricks for the news.

Huw continues to diligently upload his minifigure collection onto Brickset. The most recent collection to go up is LEGO Batman. I really wish LEGO would realize that the reason the original sets didn't do well was that their timing with the video game was flawed. Those of us who returned to LEGO after the sets ended are looking for a minifig superhero fix!

That's all for now (see I said it would be quick). More as it happens...

ArchBrick's Batman Takes to the Skies

ArchBrick, son of JasBrick, shows that he has inherited his dad's keen design sensibilities. This Batman custom minifigure with jetpack is brilliant! In stealthy black, the Joker and the rest of the inmates at Arkham Asylum won't know what hit them until its too late.

Archie is a man of many talents. Not only does he design awesome custom minifigures, he's also quite accomplished as a reviewer of the new Hero Factory sets. Check out his work on the YouTube MadFigs channel.

SpastikChuwawa's Batman Brickfilm

It would seem that the ForrestFire Films isn't the only one who can do Batman. The fight scenes are done quite well with some nice effects.

As always, kids, viewer discretion is advised...

Yoshix - Heart of Ice

Yoshix brings us this great vignette depicting Victor Fries (AKA Mr. Freeze) lamenting to his frozen wife Nora. I have to say that Bruce Timm's Batman: The Animated Series really got a lot of the mythos right. I will always hear Michael Ansara's voice when thinking of this character.

"Do I really look like a guy with a plan?"

One of the great lines delivered by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Pedro has recreated the Joker's outfit from that scene using a Collectible Minifigure Nurse and his custom, printed Joker heads.

Pedro doesn't stop there. He also introduces us to a friend who also makes and sells custom minifigures on eBay under the banner CUSTOM BRICKS AND MINIFIGS. This line up, shown on Pedro's Flickr stream, showcases some really impressive stuff. I really enjoy the custom Cad Bane and Iron Man 2 Whiplash. If you peruse their wares on eBay, you'll see a lot of Star Wars customs and some interesting glow-in-the-dark lightsaber blades. Very cool!

ForrestFire Films: The Ridiculous Cape

Here's a short but fun Batman brickfilm from ForrestFire. As it warns at the beginning, discretion is advised due to language.

This reminds me of the craze in the 90's of super-heroes having capes that appeared to expand for miles. Todd McFarlane's Spawn being the prime example. Ah the good old days, when I spent all my money on comics...

Let's Put a Smile on That Face - United Armory Now Open

Citizens of Minifig Nation, I'm happy to announce that United Armory, the official US reseller of Amazing Armory goods, is now open. Pedro has some great stuff in stock like the AMA Iron Man armor and other accessories based on Gears of War and Killzone. Don't see one of your favorite AMA designs? Don't worry this is only part of his initial inventory.

Having an official reseller for AMA means that US customers can get all of these great designs sooner and at less cost due to better shipping terms. In fact Pedro is running a store opening special where shipping for US customers is free for the first two months! Canadian customers can benefit from United Armory too, but shipping costs apply. There is a $30 (USD) minimum order, but with all this great stuff, you won't find any trouble in spending that amount.

One additional item you can look forward to is this printed Joker head in the style of The Dark Knight. It's not available yet, but Pedro promises it will be up soon.

Harry Potter Microsite Now at LEGO.com

LEGO Harry Potter Micro Site ImageToys N Bricks breaks the news that the Harry Potter microsite is now up on LEGO.com. It looks like there will be a series of "trading card" images released over time. Right now only Harry is showing.

The number at the bottom? It corresponds to the set that the minifigure shown will appear. No other details for now.

I'm a little surprised to see this given that the sets aren't due to be released until September/October. Perhaps to correspond with the release of the LEGO Harry Potter : Years 1-4 video game due out June 29th? Has TLG learned from their Batman mistakes?

If you can't stand the suspense, check out our Harry Potter Minifigure Guide here on the site!

Ze Baron Has More Than a Rabbit in His Hat

JasBrick Ze Barron Alternate World War IIJasBrick has been posting more detailed pics of his Brikwars Alternate WWII figures.

A great combination of parts. The most notable are the Penguin head from LEGO Batman, the BrickArms weapons, and the Kingdoms/Castle breast plate with the hand painted logo.

I love the concept of the deadly gadget hat! The red goggles are pretty menacing too.

If you get a chance, click into Jas' stream and look for the walking tanks for the Russian army. They remind me of the Hammer drones from the recent Iron Man film.

Updated: LEGO Batman - New Sidekicks

If you didn't have a chance to checkout ForrestFire's, new brickfilm on Friday, here it is in all its glory.

As the opening title sequence says, "viewer discretion is advised". What exactly does "view discretion" mean? Well, if you don't like your Batman making drug references, saying the word "boobs", or shooting bad guys in the face, then don't watch this. If you do, then your welcome...

New ForrestFire Batman Film on Friday

I'll be out of pocket starting Friday, so I won't be able to post ForrestFire's full brickfilm featuring Batman and his sidekicks.

For now check out this brief teaser and then come back to his YouTube channel on Friday for the full clip.

PigletCiamek's Super Soldier

PigletCiamek's UbersoldatI came across this custom super soldier from PigletCiamek while surfing the interwebs. The gun was the first thing to catch my eye, largely made of official LEGO elements.

The use of the Bane minifig (bat021) head from the LEGO Batman line also works well with this composition.

Now that Warner Brothers has announced that the next Batman film will be released on July 20th, 2012, the rumors have started regarding who the next villain will be.

I actually know. You want a hint? They are somewhere in this picture...

The Penguin's Batman Rouges GalleryJust kidding. I have no clue who its going to be! Nevertheless, Eurobricks member The Penguin has been posting his collection of custom minfigures from the Batman mythology. There are many more on the Eurobricks forums, so check them out.

ForrestFire Films: Nightwing's Return

This next brickfilm came across my desk earlier this week. It's LEGO. It's Batman. It's good!

Clocking in around 10 minutes the LEGO Batman clip revolves around Nightwing's desire to resume his old role as Robin. The only problem is he's better than Batman. This is obviously a farce because NOBODY is better than Batman...but I digress.

ForrestFire appears to be fairly prolific and widely viewed, with many clips hitting the million view mark.

Have a look and enjoy!
