LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Video from Toy Fair

Joe Meno has uploaded another American International Toy Fair video on YouTube, this time walking us through the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean sets. Good comprehensive close-ups of the sets and minifigures, unfortunately it looks like folks weren't allowed to pick items up for full 360 views.

Again, another big thanks to Joe for taking these shots. I'm guessing we could have videos for all the themes as time goes on.

Personal Tour of LEGO Alien Conquest at AIT

It's official...I'm very excited for the new LEGO Alien Conquest line due this August. Joe Meno of BrickJournal just uploaded a video tour through each set by Master Model Builder Erik Varzegi. Thanks Joe!

More Than Meets the Eye

So at the London Toy Fair, the buzz was all about the Dr. Who, LEGO-compatible minifigures. It would seem that the big, non-LEGO news at the American International Toy Fair are Hasbro's new line of building blocks called Kre-o and it's Transformers theme.

I have to admit when I first read about it I thought, "Cool. We can download the instructions and build Transformers with LEGO now." That was until I saw pics of the 'minifigures' (above). I don't know if these figs are LEGO compatible, but I can sense Morgan now figuring out how to use these in his designs as we speak.

These pics were found via Tomopop, where additional pics of Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee minifigures can be found.

FBTB FTW

If there was an award for event coverage in the LEGO community, it should go to FBTB.net. The crew continues to add detailed pics of the sets and minifigures up on Flickr.

I'm currently perusing the LEGO Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean pics and adding them to my favorites (which can be viewed directly on Flickr or here). Nicely detailed shots of the front and back of each fig.

Needlessly to say fans of minifigures have a lot to look forward to this year...

New Ninjago at American International Toy Fair

I'll not post the image as it appears to have a 'confidential' watermark, but we seem to have more details on new Ninjago minifigures from the American International Toy Fair.

Picture are appearing around the net of two new skeletons, Kruncha and Wyplash, as well as a second version of Sensei Wu (DX version perhaps?).

The skeletons are of the large head variety with Wyplash sporting a conical hat and Kruncha with a samurai style helmet. They both appear to have a new armor style as well.

The new Fire Temple set has a gold 'sword of fire' that is a new part mold. This piece did not appear in the first wave of sets, but looks fantastic with a dragon head hilt. The dragon screens from this set are phenomenal as well.

Finally, the dragons in these sets are quite nice! My favorite to date being the Earth Dragon.

My sincerest thanks to all the sites, like FBTB.net, who have not only taken the time to shoot and upload all of these pictures, but have likely sacrificed the time they could be spending on the showcase floor. I think if I was in their shoes, the temptation to run around and check all the other vendors would be too much for me. I can't wait to see all the pics from New York over the coming days.

FBTB Downloads the American International Toy Fair

It looks like the wait is over for the FBTB.net pics from the 2011 American International Toy Fair. Tons and tons of pictures have been added to their Flickr stream of great shots across a wide variety of play themes. No matter what you like, you are likely to find your favorites.

There are pages and pages of pics, which can be found on the FBTB photostream.

At Last the Toy Fair Pics Emerge

...but not from FBTB.net, yet. Site The Pop Culture Network has several pages of LEGO shots from the American International Toy Fair. There's a lot to see, and I will be the first to admit I haven't gone through them all.

I have yet to see any pics of Series 6 of the Collectible Minifigures, so I assume that when the PR announcement from TLG referred to '48 never before seen collectible figures' they were speaking to Series 3, 4, and 5.

I'm certain the FBTB.net will post later today with additional details. Until then you can peruse the pages of The Pop Culture Network.

Thanks to various e-mails and A Modular Life for pointing us in the right direction.

It's Not Quite Toy Fair...But I'll Take It

In my impatient vigil for pictures from the American International Toy Fair in New York, I came across an announcement that Grogall has shared Hi-Res pics of the new Star Wars 2011 Summer sets. The pics are still relatively small, so clear, detailed images of the figs still elude us, but there are a few additional details that are revealed.

See all the images at Eurobricks.

American International Toy Fair Starts Soon

The American International Toy Fair (AIT) starts this Sunday in New York. I just received a copy of the PR announcement that was sent out by LEGO in advance of the event.

Much of the announcement is no news, but there were a few elements that caught my eye...
  • '...Collectors will rejoice over 48 never-before-seen LEGO Minifigures, each sold separately in unmarked packaging ($2.99 each).' - So could we be getting a look at Series 6 Collectible Minifigures, or are they referring to Series 3 (which we've seen)?
  • 'Building adventure returns to Hogwarts™ with best-selling LEGO HARRY POTTER™ as favorite characters meet three more constructible locations, available in June ($11.99 - $49.99), to support the final film's premiere.' - We've seen shots of the Hogwarts set, but it looks like there are going to be two more as well.
  • 'LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants™ is back with wacky new building adventures from two Bikini Bottom stories – HEROIC HEROES OF THE DEEP and GLOVE WORLD  – available in August ($14.99 and $19.99).' - I've seen images of the SpongeBob sets recently, but the pics were confidential.
  • '[Re: LEGO Ninjago]...Five more building sets ($19.99 - $119.99) and eight collectible spinner sets ($9.99 each) will launch later in the year.' - I'm guessing that LEGO Ninjago has turned out to be a hit.
The festivities will start on Sunday with the LEGO Collector Party (remember the flier?) We'll just have to keep our eyes and ears open...
