Customizer Sandy has created a series of Final Fantasy minifigures. Although the figures are not based on particular characters they are firmly rooted in the Final Fantasy universe. Great presentation and addition of the digital backdrops.
These characters also appear in a brick comic she's created called Final Fantasy LEGO: Crystal Hearts. You can check out the character pics and the first issue of the brick comic on Eurobricks.

Church is back in session. The Reverend Brendan Powell Smith has revamped both "The Flood" and "Noah's Curse" on The Brick Testament. I don't want to give anything away (SPOILER ALERT), but everybody dies...everybody but Noah and his family, that is.
I was looking at a detailed space factory MOC by legoloverman and it had a note asking, "Do you want to know more?" When I clicked through it took me to episode #213 of Tranquility Base, a brick comic I had heard of, but never explored.
As you can see from the strip, Peter's MOC was featured as a 'blip' production line. This isn't the first time that Pete's creations have been used in brick media.
So what's the strip about? The answer (in their own words):
"Tranquility Base is the result of adding Classic Space, Futuron and one or two other bits of LEGO together to create a spaceport in which weird stuff can happen.
It is what would happen if we Brits had won the space race (I know, we weren't in "The" space race) -- it's an organisation that employs some eccentrics with brilliant minds but not necessarily any common sense, far too few highly efficient but under-paid workers who actually keep the place running, and all overseen by a bloated administrative layer that couldn't organise a... uh... bonfire in an explosives factory."
I've perused a few episodes and they really made me chuckle. I think I'll be keeping an eye on Tranquility Base in the near (yet distant) future.
Tigerggyy is back with a new photo series titled "Lin's Family". The montage shown here features two warriors, one clad in black the other in white. The man in black appears to be sporting a BrickTW Saint Sword, but what's that halberd in the white warrior's hand? Could that be part of the new BrickTW collection?
I had heard that BrickTW was hoping to launch some of their new product in July. Here's hoping we just got a teaser.
Sometimes people ask me, "How do you find this stuff?!" It's really a combination of dark arts, including communing with the dead, evoking demons, and Google Alerts. OK...it's mostly Google Alerts.
Nevertheless, I've found a brick comic which I've found to be quite good. Brickgamers combines LEGO and video games with a nice and often comedic effect. The issue here comments on developments in the game World of Warcraft to sell a Celestial Steed for around $25 USD. Needless to say it still amazes me what people will spend their money on.
I look forward to seeing more from these guys and hope you'll take the time to check them out too.
Three new and updated versions of the stories of "Cain and Abel", "The Descendants of Seth and of Cain", and "Humanity Corrupted" on The Brick Testament. 52 new illustrations in all.
It seems that the Reverend Brendan Powell Smith is going back to the beginning and revamping the collection. Does that make him the George Lucas of the Old Testament?
Christopher Doyle and Sigrid Ellis are teaming up for a new, on-line brick comic - Denizens.
A new page will be available on Tuesdays and Saturdays each week. It's not known if this will be similar to the wacky humor on Chris' other comic, The Brick House. The front cover (shown here) has definitely piqued my interest.
Details on where the comic will be hosted are forthcoming.
There's a whole slew of new contests out there; past, present and future.
The first item to announce that the Eurobricks/Classic-Town Collectible Minifigure Contest is now over. The three winning vignettes featured (or didn't feature, as the case may be) the Demolition Dummy, the Clown, and the Skater. The winners received their pick from one of White Fang's complete sets. Congrats to Redcross, Noodles140, and Fugazi!
A new contest has come online at Eurobricks in the historical themes forum: Redcoats vs. Bluecoats. Run in conjunction with Classic-Pirates.com, the rules can be found here. The objective is to create a 10 panel brick comic that humiliates the opposing side in the most fiendish way. The prizes include a whole host of LEGO Pirates swag!
There are a few other contests happening outside of EB (I promise).
Clone Army Customs is sponsoring the third annual Star Wars Base Contest. You can check out the details in the YouTube clip below. Who is Clone Army Customs, you say?! Patience padawan, patience...
Hazel recently posted this image appearing to announce a Killzone Custom Minifig Contest. Details are sketchy right now, but it looks like a sliver chrome Killzone custom minifigure is up for grabs. Once details are available, expect to see them on the Killzone Custom Minifig Group on Flickr.
Finally, Toys N Bricks is hosting two contests centered around the Series 1 Collectible Minifigures. The first relates to being the top contributor in their forums for the month of June (Oops, a little late in blogging that one!) The winner receives one Ninja for their efforts.
The second contest relates to building a robot vignette to win, what else, a Series 1 Robot minifigure.
Details on both Toys N Bricks contests can be found here.
Tigerggy is back with a new brick comic focused on the Manchu-Russian border skirmishes. According to the all knowing Oracle (aka Wikipedia):
The Russian-Manchu border conflicts (1643-1689) were a series of intermittent skirmishes between the Manchus and the Cossacks in which the Cossacks tried and failed to gain the land north of the Amur River. The hostilities culminated in the Manchu siege of the Cossack fort of Albazin (1686) and resulted in the Treaty of Nerchinsk, concluded between the Russia and the Qing Empire in 1689.
The main character in this composition is armed with a cross dragon spear and round-style fighting shield form BrickTW. The Ching Dynasty armor and helm are also from this custom house.
If you haven't been following Christopher Doyle's web comic Brick House recently, you will have missed the recent infusion of Collectible Minifigures into the strip.
Chris has recently blogged that he's scored a couple of cases from his local TRU (lucky jerk). I'm really interested to see where this ultimately goes, as I'm hoping he doesn't know which figures are in each of the bags.
How did the bags get there in the first place? Well the Dwarven kingdom and their army of rock monsters have decided to make war against the Brick House after encountering an evil, disembodied hair piece. Deciding they needed reinforcements, the gang calls Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man). Tony, being the SOB that he is, refuses to help directly but instead sends a truckload of collectible minifigure packets in his place. So far, they mostly have an army of crash test dummies and a Mexican luchador named "El Stud"..and that's what happened previously on "Glee".
Christopher Doyle, creator of The Brick House comic, participated in The Webcomic Beacon podcast this past Sunday, May 16th.
The podcast is now up on the site and you can listen at your leisure. Dave Rapp creator of The Brickworld Saga was also a guest. Both Dave and Chris discuss everything from do's and don'ts of brick comics, the legal pitbulls at LEGO, and the difference between LEGO bricks and MEGA Bloks. Overall a good listen, check it out when you can.
Tigerggyy has posted some new images focusing on some of what appears to be the new translucent armor from BrickTW's Eastern War series.
The first image shows a soldier in Fire Wizard armor while a crystal tiger prowls behind.
The second image shows a trio of scenes where Trolls are attempting to run off with a crystal dragon. A small contingent of warriors in Wind Wizard armor have other ideas.
I really enjoy how Tigerggyy and BrickTW bring product and story together to really showcase a fine product.
A quick fun fact before I go...Many of Tiger's posts have the title "Deer Hunting in the Central Plain". Did you know that this phrase is often used to describe a struggle for power? Entertaining and educational!
If you tuned into Brick House on Monday, you'll have seen the "evil head" manged to get a new body thanks to the tribe of rock people. You'll have also seen that those same rock people didn't think to give him pants! But that's not the interesting part...
Christopher shares this little factoid:
While at the TwinLUG meeting a couple of weekends ago, I heard that LEGO no longer produces the mini-fig hip part in yellow, considering it “nudity.” Not sure if that’s true or not, it seems like it’d be fairly harmless in any of the licensed lines where they’re using flesh-toned minis.
If this is true, as one reader pointed out, then it puts the yellow, classic spaceman in a whole new light. No pants, a tattoo on his chest, and a helmet. It would seem that LEGO has some interesting ideas about what goes on in space...
In the first we see several dramatic poses among translucent armor and weapons, including a picture with one of the new Prince of Persia ostriches!
The second collection titled 'Green Jade' features a Zhuang minifigure among a richer, deeper green arsenal.
The minifigures appear in the traditional garb of the Zhuang people. I have to admit that I'm not aware of their history, aside from what I've found via the all knowing oracle (aka Wikipedia).
I believe the armor and weapons come courtesy of BrickTW. Considering their dedication to Oriental history I'm certain there is a deep and rich story just ready to unfold.
The film, set in the Power Miner's universe, uses the band Fight Like Apes' song "Knucklehead" to drive the plot. Some great animation plus who can't help but love those rock monster minifigures.
But wait there's more...
If you want some more PM rock monster goodness, be sure to follow Christopher Doyle's Brick House strip on Reasonably Clever. The evil hairpiece has absconded with Whiskey's second head that he obtained from "The Creator" while in the meta-verse. After escaping into the tunnels below Brick House, the hairpiece has stumbled upon a tribe of rock monsters who communicate only by singing classic rock songs and show tunes. Ya got all that?!
