Fancy Pants' Doorway and Cannes Lions 2010

Jordan Johnson (AKA Fancy Pants) has posted this brief clip on his YouTube channel. The short was created as an entry into the 2010 Cannes Lions contest hosted on MOFILM.com. The objective was to create a film that allowed kids of all ages to connect with the LEGO brand. The winners have already been announced, and you can see them here. I personally thought "Build Anything" by Temujin Doran would be a great campaign idea for the brand.

Even though Jordan didn't place, we all win by being able to see his entry. Enjoy!

State of the Fancy Pants

Brickfilm auteur Fancy Pants checks in on his YouTube channel.

After thanking everyone for the success of The Force Unleashed, Fancy Pants vows to come back with a project even bigger and better. The down side? Something about bigger and better equaling more time.

Time-shmime! I say we lock Jordan in a room and not let him out until his mystery project is compl...What's that? Human slavery is illegal? I thought it was more frowned upo...No? Definitely illegal?...OK. Moving on.

It also sounds like The Ruthless Plan Part 5 ain't gonna happen. He's moved on people. Get over it! (UPDATE: It does appear that Jordan has posted the incomplete footage of RP5 on his YouTube Channel)

There may be an occasional tutorial or short in between, but generally the man is going underground.

Get the full scoop below (NOTE: This is audio only, no pictures or video).

Look! Up In The Sky! It's Fancy Pants

I was looking for more brickfilm goodness from Fancy Pants, creator of "The Force Unleashed", and found this brilliant tutorial on how to make minifigures "fly" in brickfilm. I especially enjoy the early 70s elevator muzak in the background...

A Clone Halloween - A Brickfilm by Fancy Pants

We mentioned the other day that LAML podcast was able to score an interview with "The Force Unleashed" creator Fancy Pants. This prompted me to visit Bricks In Motion, a website dedicated to LEGO brickfilm. Currently, they have nominees up for their 2009 BiM awards for film of the year. Fancy Pants' "A Clone Halloween" is up for that award.

Although I can't speak to all of the technical elements that went into the film, I have to say it's quite funny. Although it may appeal to my brand of random, off-the-wall humor, click the link below to see for yourself.

I'll be posting the other three nominees later this week, and let you know who won once results are announced.

LAML Interviews Fancy Pants: Creator of The Force Unleashed

A couple of weeks ago we featured a LEGO Star Wars brickfilm called "The Force Unleashed". It quickly became a viral hit online. LAML, the LEGO Talk Podcast, has scored an interview with creator Jordon Johnson, also known as "Fancy Pants".

There's quite a bit of technical brickfilm elements discussed in the interview. If you have an interest in creating your own stop-motion LEGO creation, you'll find insights into how films of this type are produced. There's also mention of "Bricks In Motion", a website community for brickfilms. We'll be watching this in the future for new and notable LEGO films.

LEGO Star Wars - The Force Unleashed Brickfilm

I 'm a little late to the game, but I was only half way through the video and I knew I had to share this...
