Brickmania will be selling custom mecha/hardsuit kits based on a design by  Legend Bricks' John Ho, starting this weekend at The Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention. The middle design is John's, while Dan came up with the Jester and Mime concepts. No word on when these might appear at the Brickmania online store, but if you are in Memphis this weekend be sure to check them out.

Bantha's Hardsuit is Ready to Rock

This is a perfect example of how to showcase a LEGO minifigure. Granted this is a hardsuit, but the posing, the background, the lighting, all come together in a very nice way. This would be a fantastic poster design! Bantha even has a breakdown of the hardsuit so you can build your own.
It's been a rather quiet day in Minifig Nation, but if you want to peruse all the stuff I tag on Flickr, head on over and check out my 'favorites'. There's a lot more here than I would ever have time to blog about...

Hardsuits, Hardsuits Everywhere

Becheman's Starcraft marine instructionsA few posts ago we mention Becheman's Warhammer 40k hardsuit designs. He's back this time with instructions for his Starcraft marines. I can't begin to state my appreciation for those who are willing to share their knowledge to help the community grow. If you, yes 'you' citizen, know of any other great repositories of customization knowledge (books, websites, forums, etc.) please let us know.

While we are on the topic of hardsuits, I have one more to share. Take a look at this Blood Skull Power Suit from Titolian. Great use of the BrickArms chain gun and some subtle greebley accents. I couldn't help but think one of the Backyard Blasters helmets from World Racers would be a nice tweak. The decaled helmets from that line are a great add to a customizers arsenal. If only someone else were to experiment with decals on helmet designs...hmmm...but that's another story.

LEGO Warhammer 40K Hardsuits

Check out this digital design for a hardsuit based on designs from Warhammer 40K. Becheman has a wide variety of hardsuit designs on his Flickr stream. What's even better is that he also has some details pics of how they were put together, giving you the option to build for yourself or tweak his designs.

Commander Tac's Goblin Hardsuit

Luke Lyons (AKA Commander Tac) wows with this great goblin hardsuit made up mostly of Space Police III items. The Slizer and Snake helmets really caught my eye. The ammo belt of binoculars and BrickArms clips is nice too.

It's Slime Time!

Slime Face HardsuitBlackleafwei can't let Break Jaw have all the fun! Slime Face is busy burying the competition in this latest vignette.

There's another hardsuit of Gold Tooth on blackleafwei's Flickr stream as well.

Each one is basic in its overall design, but its the custom touches reflecting the character of each fig that really sets these apart.

Although I'd love to continue to see more Agents villains, when will Agent Chase suit up and go on the offensive?! Nick Fury wouldn't put up with this $#!@...

Break Jaw Hardsuit Vingette

Break Jaw's Hardsuit AttacksBlackleafwei has been busy designing hardsuits and vignettes using LEGO Agents minifigures. In this scene Break Jaw is bearing down on a group of fleeing agents. The stack of dynamite at his feet suggests that Break Jaw might go "boom".

Its not surprising that Break Jaw was able to score such a sweet ride. His boss, Dr. Inferno, has a 'killer' whip himself. Robo Attack (set 8970) was one of the first sets I bought after coming out of my dark ages!

Strap On Your Hardsuit...It's Going To Be A Bumpy Ride

So what exactly is a 'hardsuit'? In the LEGO universe its often a MOC that combines robot mecha and minifigure armor.

In the example shown here, builder Leg-O-Matic has designed a rather nimble rig in a jaunty pose. If you click through his Flickr stream you'll see that a full minifigure fits inside the suit acting like a suit of armor.

There are a wide variety of styles that fit into the 'hardsuit' category. There's even a Flickr photostream completely dedicated to the little buggers.

If you ever feel your minifig need that extra 'umph' to take out an adversary, or to take a trip down to the store for eggs. Try your hand at crafting one of these babies.
