Toys R Us Announces Excusive LEGO Toy Story 3 Set

Jessie is rumored to have a new face print, but otherwise should be identical to the figure that comes with the Woody's Roundup set (#7594). Lotto looks like he may have a different appearance from other sets (based on pics seen on-line to date). "Twitch" is completely new and exclusive to this set, so far. Buzz appears to remain unchanged.
This will move Buzz's set count to at least 5, not including the recently released magnet set. Jessie will no longer be exclusive to Woody's Roundup and move to 3 sets, Lotto will be in 3 sets (7596, 7599, 7789), and Twitch will be exclusive to this set.
The price point is $44.99 for 402 pieces. The Toy Story 3 sets may start showing up as early as May, especially at Toys R Us where Prince of Persia sets are being sighted a month before the official LEGO release of April.

Collectible Minifigures Series 1: The Ninja
Today we are going to look at figure that hasn't seen LEGO sets in almost 10 years, "The Ninja".
Minifigure Parts
The Ninja is composed of four parts, a head wrap (part x54), head, torso with gi print, and black legs. The head wrap has been most recently seen on the "Cairo Thug" from Indiana Jones, the gi print on the torso is very similar to the Jedi minifigures from Star Wars. The torso print appears to have less "detail" than some of the original Ninja minifgures. The 'squinty face' design on the head is new.

Accessories
The accessory is a pearl gold katana (part 30173), that has also been seen recently in Indiana Jones sets. As always, the figure will come with the new minifigure stand.
Army Building Potential
The "army building potential" or "ABP" for this figure is high. Ninjas don't really need a lot of additional customizations or changes to fit into a Japanese clan. In some ways they are similar to Clone/Stormtroopers.
Feeling It Out
This figure might be difficult to identify through the packaging with no obvious features or accessories that can be ID'd via touch.
Bar Codes
The following are the secondary bar codes that can be found on the back of each bag which indicates the figure inside. The bar code on the left is valid for the EU while the bar code on the right is valid for the US. These bar codes come courtesy of Brickset.com where a single pdf containing all bar codes can be found.

FBTB.net Poll Standings
According to the poll currently on the FBTB.net forums, The Ninja is not faring well in the votes, and I'm beginning to see why. A lot of the pieces for the figure can be found in recent sets (Indiana Jones, Star Wars). There really aren't any unique elements like the ray gun that comes with The Spaceman. As always, those who frequent AFOL forums may not be representative of the broader market.
Although I like the ninja as a "concept", TLG could have done more here than simply rehash some old parts. It would have been great to see a new accessory or weapon here to increase interest. I'm sure minifigure accessory customizers would be happy to oblige.
Official LEGO.com Bio
“Like a shadow in the night, I – oops!”
Stealthy. Sneaky. A cunning master of martial arts. None of these things describes the Ninja, although he sure wishes they did. He tries his best to dramatically blend into the shadows or hide in plain sight like all the other ninjas can, but no matter what he does, he always seems to mess things up. The truth is that he’s just plain clumsy, and no matter how gracefully he may start a back-flip, creep along the rafters or launch himself into an epic sword battle, he always manages to trip over his own feet, fall off the ceiling, or bonk himself on the head with his ancient and mystical blade. Also, he’s afraid of the dark.
No one is quite sure how the Ninja ever managed to graduate from ninja school. But no matter how bad he may be at his chosen profession, he always keeps trying and never gives up, convinced after each blunder that the next time, he will prove himself a true ninja warrior for the ages.

Coverage of Atlantis Warrior on Brickipedia

It would appear that the helmet and breastplate are completely new, along with the new yellow key design.
Pictures of the Portal of Atlantis set from the US Toy Fair looked impressive. This unique minifigure only adds to the appeal!

Fantasy LEGO League: Tron

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to "The Fantasy LEGO League". You can see the "rules" of these posts here. Let's digitize ourselves and get down to business...
Must-Have Minifigures (A): If done right in trans-blue and red highlights, these figures could be great. Imagine mini throwing disks in the same style! The variety might be a little hindered, however.
Propensity for Vehicles (B): Light-cycles, tanks, and skiffs galore. The iconic piece would definitely be the light-cycles.
Preexisting Fan-Base (C): A cult film from the 80's? Tron was one of the iconic films from my childhood. The fan-base potential is high, however, with the new Tron Legacy film.
Depth of Theme (C): One cult film, a couple of video games, and another, untested film on the way. About average.
Kid Friendliness (B): May be more popular among adults and teens than kids. The trailers I've seen for the new film appear to cater to adults who remember the film as a kid.
Likelihood of License (A): As you can see from the poster image, its Disney's Tron Legacy. Assuming Prince of Persia doesn't poison the well, its possible.
Overall (B-): I think having the preexisting Disney license is a plus, but with the new film having a December 2010 release date, and no news so far, the window is closing. If the announcement were made today, I would pick up these sets over Prince of Persia in a heartbeat.
Custom Options: Kubrick already beat them to it...sort of. Unfortunately, Kubrick figures can be very expensive. Maybe our friends at BrickForge read this blog. Hmmm...

Collectible Minifigures Series 1: The Tribal Hunter
Today we are going to look at figure that hasn't seen LEGO sets in several years, "The Tribal Hunter".
Minifigure Parts
The Tribal Hunter is composed of six parts, plume feathers (part 472p01) that fit into the hairpiece (part 30114), a head with war-paint print, a brown quiver (part 4498), a torso and legs both with Native American print and designs. Minifigure ww016 may be the closest we've come to seeing this character before.
Accessories
The accessory is a brown bow and arrow set (part 4499). As always, the figure will come with the new minifigure stand.
Army Building Potential
The "army building potential" or "ABP" for this figure is moderate. Changing out hair pieces and or faces could lead to the formation of your own tribe, but customization options appear low.
Feeling It Out
This figure might be difficult to identify through the packaging with no obvious features or accessories that can be ID'd via touch. The bow and arrow might be an indicator, I could see this figure being confused with The Forestman given similar accessories and parts.
Bar Codes
The following are the secondary bar codes that can be found on the back of each bag which indicates the figure inside. The bar code on the left is valid for the EU while the bar code on the right is valid for the US. These bar codes come courtesy of Brickset.com where a single pdf containing all bar codes can be found.

The Big Draw
The big draw here is having an update to a minifigure character that hasn't been available since 2002 in the Rapid River Village set.
FBTB.net Poll Standings
According to the poll currently on the FBTB.net forums, The Tribal Hunter is not faring well in the votes. As always, those who frequent AFOL forums may not be representative of the broader market, but it looks like these figures might be sought just to fill out a full series one collection.
Official LEGO.com Bio
“Nature is both beautiful and very ticklish.”
The Tribal Hunter is a skilled, wise and noble tracker who is at one with the wilderness. He lives off the land, his only possessions a hand-made bow and quiver (though some say he also has an MP3 player hidden somewhere, and that he’s secretly a great dancer). There is no better hunter alive, but he does not hunt to eat – instead, he prefers to prove his skill in a most unusual way.
If an animal is famous for being difficult to sneak up on, you can bet that the Tribal Hunter can be found creeping silently toward it, his bare feet making not a sound on the dry autumn leaves, until he suddenly jumps out to surprise the unsuspecting creature with a friendly poke. Fortunately, he is also a very fast runner, because most of the time he ends up getting chased by something with very big teeth and a very short temper. But that’s all just part of being the best hunter around!

Toy Story Alien Mini Promotion Spotted In France
Yoda99 recently posted pictures from the upcoming Toy Story 3 sets at the Toys N Bricks forum. This gives you a sense of new minifigures that will be available in time for the summer movie. LEGO and Disney have been cracking down on spoiler images for the sets, so head on over when you get a chance. More importantly, however...
There is a new mini promotional set (#30070) for JoueClub outlets in France...A Toy Story Alien speeder! This may be a good way to fill out your alien collection for that "claw" MOC you've been dying to build. The other European promo item, the LEGO Star Wars chrome stormtrooper, found its way to US shores. Might this one be on the way?!
