New BrickArms World War II Products Are Here

Over the weekend, BrickArms announced their 2010 World War II products were ready to roll.

There are seven weapons, two helmets, two custom minifigures, and a med-kit in the series.

The closest LEGO has ever come to these types of products are the LEGO Indiana Jones sets and the Toy Story Army Men. If you've been itchin' to storm the beaches of Normandy, or just want to recreate certain a Quentin Tarantino movie in brickfilm, then these accessories are for you!

LEGO Star Wars Minifigures: Bronze Boba Fett

LEGO Star Wars Bronze Boba Fett MinifigureNow Showing
This bronze version of sw002 is the second Boba Fett promotional figure to have been released this year. The first was the white Boba Fett promo (sw275) that was handed out to attendees at the 2010 US Toy Fair. There are currently only 2 of these bronze minifigs in existence. One will be auctioned off as part of the "May the Force be with You" promo at LEGO Shop@Home May 3rd and 4th, 2010. You must purchase a LEGO Star Wars item at Shop@Home on these days, or submit a postcard with postmark on the 3rd or 4th to the address on the website to be eligible (see site for details).

Minifigure Parts and Accessories
It's unknown at this time if the figure will come as one solid piece or if it has the ability to be disassembled into its component parts. The last minifig promo to have this treatment was the gold plated C-3PO (sw158) that was released in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of the original Star Wars film. That figure did come in component parts. Its assumed that the Boba Fett figure is bronze plated, and should come in the same four parts as sw002: head, torso, legs, and helmet/jet pack combo.

It has not been revealed if the figure will come with a bronze blaster as well.

Army Building Potential
Ha! Unless you are trying to build an army of one (or two) in this case...

Big Draw
The big draw here is bragging rights and rarity. There were 150 white Boba Fett figures handed out at the 2010 US Toy Fair. Only two have been sold via BrickLink, and went for values between $500 and $600 USD. Expect this figure to have the potential to go for much higher amounts if sold. The LEGO.com lists the figure as having an approximate value of $150 USD.

LEGO Toy Story 3 Minifigures Up at Store

I was able to score set 7789, Lotso's Dump Truck, at a local Toys R Us today. As a result, I've posted Lotso, Chunk, and Stretch up on my BrickLink store. Lotso includes his "cane" for free and is listed as a super lot.

I'm also planning on posting "Little Man" as a super lot, but the minifigure head isn't inventoried in BrickLink yet. If you are interested just drop me a line. It will include the yellow construction hat, minifig head, and dark blue body.

Wookies Gone Wild

I'm back again today with more goodness from Balakov...

LEGO Star Wars Balakov Wookies "Droids don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that."

LEGO Star Wars Minifigures: Emperor Palpatine

LEGO Star Wars Emperor PalpatineNow Showing
This version of Emperor Palpatine is a reissue of sw210 and appears in set 8096, Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle. Prior to this set this particular version of Palpatine appeared in set 10188, The Death Star. There have been a long line of various Palpatine minifigures throughout the LEGO Star Wars time line.

Minifigure Parts and Accessories
This minifigure has five parts in total: the cowl, a cape, head, torso, and legs. Nothing new here, what you got with The Death Star remains intact.

Palpatine's accessory is a standard red lightsaber.

Army Building Potential
I'm going to call this a "low" ABP. Although the cowl, head, and torso, would have custom potential, there are less expensive ways to obtain them or suitable replacements. Need a zombie head? The Collectible Minifigure Zombie has you covered. Martial arts gi? Again, the Collectible Minifigure Ninja gets you there. That cool cowl? I see 21 minifigures with this part in BrickLink alone.

Big Draw
Honestly, you can now pick up this version of Emperor Palpatine in a set that doesn't cost nearly $400 USD. I'm willing to bet, however, there's a magnet set in the future that will make you kick yourself for buying this set to grab him.

The Wisdom of Balakov

A few days ago I discovered Mike Stimpson (aka Balakov) on Flickr. It's been a while since he's posted a new photo, so I went diving through his archives. This caption struck me as both wise and true...

LEGO Star Wars Balakov's You Out"If you've gone to the trouble of creating a clone army, it seems silly not to have them deal with annoying relatives when they stop by."

LEGO Star Wars Minifigures: Injured Anakin Skywalker

LEGO Star Wars Injured Anakin SkywalkerNow Showing
This version of Anakin is a reissue of a 2005 minifigure (sw139). This 2010 update comes with set 8096, Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle.

Minifigure Parts and Accessories
Injured Anakin comes as four parts, Vader helmet, head, torso, and legs.

The flesh-tone head has new printing that shows all the damage from his fight on Mustafar. The torso print also shows a significant battle scars (Is that seared flesh I see?). The left arm and hand are flesh colored, while the entire right arm and hand assembly are black. The legs are basic black.

The accessories for Anakin are a Darth Vader helmet and lightsaber. The helmet and Anakin interact with the major feature of the play set, the transformation of Anakin into Vader...or at least the part when the helmet goes on his head. With these early pics, its difficult to tell if the helmet design has been updated in some way or if its a reissue of part 30368.

The lightsaber appears to be standard issue with trans-red blade. The lightsaber is not shown in pack shots, but two sabers come with the set and there's built in storage in the model.

Army Building Potential
The ABP for this figure is low. The head might be sought after for custom zombies, but otherwise there are no parts that would be sought after in multiples.

Big Draw
The big draws, if any, are the new head and torso prints. Outside of this...not much.
